Cactus flowers are so lovely. They look like glass. I'm glad to be able to revise my picture of Arizona, since I think of it as a rather bleak place. I guess it's at its best when the flowers are in bloom, and all those striking photos of sunsets and the moon give me a different feeling for the place than my recent experiences of waiting for the bus at high noon on a Scottsdale street corner!

Tucson to me seems very different than the Phoenix area. I like it in any season but it's most spectacular when the cactus, wildflowers and trees bloom. Too many people in Phoenix for my taste. It is also at lower eelvation and elevation means everything in the desert. In the Phoenix area, you want to be out at Cave Creek or up toward Sedona, out around the Superstitions to get similar country to Tucson. Also the southern part of the valley is not as pretty as the area where our home is. Although once again, you get down toward Tubac and it's lovely also.

We'll see how it goes there politically with whether Ron Barber takes Gabriel Gifford's seat.
