Obama

Because the lies about Barack Obama have been rebutted time after time, I get to thinking everybody knows the truth. It appears not. Are some not believing it or do they turn off their ability to listen? I got the link to this YouTube from my daughter. It's particularly good because it tells it all while you listen to a beautiful song-- one you might even know.

A question for you Rain-is Obama changing some of his positions to garner more White votes?

I don't know what he'd be doing in that way. His comments to the black fathers comes because he was a deserted child and has worked extensively in the communities to see what's happening. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have never supported him as if he wins where is their argument that the country is racist. If he loses, they win. He has never run as a black man but as a candidate who is running and happens to be black and white. They want him to run as a black for the blacks which would doom his candidacy. His issues about poverty will help both groups who are poor. It's not just black fathers who desert their children and are irresponsible in parenting.

All politicians move somewhat to the middle for the main elections and you see it in McCain too. To me, having thought about this in December before I decided to actively support Obama, and my feeling then was that he was more to the middle than many would like. That is where most Americans are and extremes on either side won't win. Remember compassionate conservative? Once they get in, who knows. Obama will not have an easy time of it if he does win with either a left or right leaning Congress. Many will want him to fail-- Hillary Clinton leading the wishers. A lot won't actively do things to undermine him, it'll all be the kind of thing you can deny like the New Yorker cartoonist. Who would think people would take it the way they did on the far right? Like say what???

I love the video, Rain! And how true! I've been an Obama supporter for some time. I think he is the best hope for real change that this country has had in a long time. I've been puzzled by the continuing statements that most of the over 60 crowd, particularly women wanted only Hillary and are just hoping Obama falls on his face so she can step back in next term. We have a chance for that change everyone talks about, so why the whine??

I enjoyed your post today. I'm so encouraged to see the zeal and excitment among younger people today. They actually want to do more than complain. In the 60's young people turned off to government, dropped out of society, and tried to change the world from outside the system, using anger as their weapon of choice. Today young people seem eager to work within the system to bring change, and anger is not in their quiver of tools. I fear these people will become disillusioned if not given a chance to work along side Barack Obama to create change from within.

Hallo Rain, thanks for your lovely comment on Winston.

A few days ago I saw Barack's foreign policy speech. My concentration was brought to a screeching halt when he said that $8 Billion are spent each month on the war, (not sure whether that is just Iraq, or combines Afghanistan). After that all that I could think of was, $8 Billion a month, would provide a Health System something like the UK's and possibly even better for each and every American Citizen.

I am increasingly impressed by Barack Obama, and feel that the US has an opportunity to elect a President not just for the country, also the rest of the world, and lead us out of the dark.

I love this clip Rain...thank you. Barack continues to be my choice...my hope...and I don't see that changing. It irritates me that there is that contingency that is still waiting for him to fail...when there is a much larger amount of people, I think, who hold such hope, faith, and belief in him to help change this country around.
