a work in progress

by Rain Trueax

Do you think about how the world is doing? When you read the papers do you lose hope or feel more optimistic? I do a little of both with articles that make me feel positive and those that cause me to lose faith and see instead a future for humans that might be dystopian.

Except, in our daily living, for most of us, our world goes along smoothly. Not to say, we don't know pain or dissension. But we don't suffer what the people did in Paradise or the ones who went to a restaurant/bar for a nice evening and found a nutcase with a gun because his life hadn't gone as he had hoped (I know it could be a her but normally it's not).

What has caused the rage? What makes people so angry that they head to a park to find someone to shoot as happened with the GOP politicians practicing baseball? I know some want to blame one side or the other, but it's not that simple. Both sides stir up rage and for what benefit?

For me, anger is always negative. Yes, we feel it. The thing is, we must, if we want a good life, delete it as soon as we can like an unwanted email. Anger does not hurt the one we are angry with-- it hurts us. That person may not even know we are feeling it. Let it go.

These photos are of our Oregon bathroom-- a work in progress (as are we all).

The missing drawers will be resized inside to allow room for the plumbing. I have ordered a stand that will hold toilet paper rolls. The dark cupboard door is being refinished to be lighter. It and its sister were in the bathroom when we bought the home. The other one will go onto the wall in the little bathroom and be painted the same color as the walls.

Between plumbers, bathtub refinisher, window, sink, new flooring, it wasn't cheap but does have some repurposed elements. It took Ranch Boss a lot of hours to totally tear out the old before bringing in replacements. I am happy with it. It feels like a work of energy and art. Some of it was purchased knowing how it'd be used. Some just happened. The items in it have come from many places and times to come together now and work as a whole-- wish we could do that with all of life.

I love it because the tub and sink and art is exactly the theme of the entire ranch house.

It is and the art varies with location; which makes your paintings perfect for the living room. I especially sit and enjoy the one above my desk.

Exactly the type of bathroom I would think an artist would create. Love the burnished browns. Not too sure I would like that man staring above the bath, but it is a nice work of art.

Funny on the man but I hadn't thought of him as looking down lol

Love the artwork, it tells me that you live in a different land, and 'burnished brown' exactly describes the beautiful wash bowl.

thank you all. It's one of the things I love-- serendipity. Much of it just wasn't bought to do a bathroom, but it suddenly was the right place. A lot of work for Ranch Boss, but he did it slow and steady over a period of months. Other than him, we did hire plumbers for parts of it--although he did some of that too. I look at it in amazement as how perfectly it has come together. The wash bowl is actually a dark red with that great pattern. I hope it'll prove durable being molded glass, but it came on sale at the perfect time to acquire it last summer. The color on the walls is the color it was but now with the whole room that color, and all the rest, it is better than it was.
