Obama on change

Unless we deal with who Obama is, getting into who McCain is doesn't get us anywhere. We, who support Obama, don't just think McCain and Palin are wrong on issues and character, we think Obama is right on them.

Here's a clip from the campaign trail where he brings up the McCain propensity lately for using Obama slogans like change we need. For those who do not get YouTube, the gist is he would like McCain to steal his ideas instead of slogans. It is through ideas that real change can happen. As I see it though, the problem with McCain taking those is his understanding of them would be as shallow as the speeches Palin has been memorizing.

Wonder what it is that some people still see in McCain/Palin? Every appearance they make shows up their serious "know little" personas. And the reasons people give for being so behind Palin are so shallow, so typical of the incredible number of brainless idiots we have in this country today. Makes me wonder if we have any future at all. Thanks for the post.

I'm currently reading a very interesting book called "Deer Hunting With Jesus" which helps explain the thinking that's behind the support of a McCain/Palin ticket.

These folks get all their political information from right-wing talk radio and Fox News. They can't afford a newspaper and have been beaten down so badly by "the man" that they no longer feel they can improve their lot in life, no matter how hard they try.

They are extremely hard-working people who are strongly against any government "handouts." And to them the liberal elite are people like you and me.

At one time the Democratic Party stood up for these people and made an effort to make their lives better. They courted their vote and made good on their promises. Not so much anymore.

The federal minimum wage hardly helps these people save enough money to send their kids to college or to save anything for retirement or to pass along to their families after they die.

Like many of us, I'm struggling to find the appeal, but this book is opening my eyes to the problem.

You nailed it, gyma and I think it's neat that you are trying to understand this. I live in rural Oregon and all I see on the road out here are McCain signs. I don't think a lot of people need more reasons than Democrats will take their guns. We haven't yet found a sign because they have been out of them locally and we have to order them and pay for them ourselves, which is fine but makes it harder to get. Farm Boss went past the McCain headquarters, same town, and lots of signs. Some might be a misunderstanding of how much signs do communicate in rural areas where often neighbors are far apart. Keep us posted on what you learn from the book-- what a great title :).
