Ironically I've only actually written three books set in Arizona despite my many weeks and months spent there since 1965 when I first lived in Tucson. It has an interesting history, and its beauty is throughout the state which explains the many movies filmed there.
Rather than try to explain what seems beyond explaining to me, I thought I'd share a few of the photos that illustrate a bit of why I love that beautiful, sometimes mystical land so much. These are all from southern Arizona which is where my books are set. I won't be there at all this year-- except in my memories and through my books.
If I haven't already convinced you of the wonders of Southern Arizona, take a peek at the video I created last year. I am feeling a real yen to be there at least in spirit...
What a gorgeous place!
ReplyDeleteI would love so much to visit Arizona. I never been on USA...
The video is beautiful too.
Thanks for sharing.
My main reaction to some of those pictures is "Wow!" That sunset (sunrise?) was pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt was a winter sunset, Mark. I think we get the most spectacular ones after monsoon storms but this was an exception. Lighting was perfect for it :)
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! I have yet to see Arizona. Made me remember how much I loved reading "Arizona Highways." Wonder why I never visited, not too late.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a part of it that I don't remember finding beauty there. Sometimes it takes a lot of miles of driving to get there which is true of a lot of it in the northern part of the state, but it's full of history and natural wonders. And yes, never too late to visit there :)
ReplyDeleteThe Saquaro's are so incredibly amazing...And when you think how old they are.....I LOVE the Birds too....Particularly that Owl.....And, of course, The Sunsets! Beautiful Beautiful Country!
ReplyDeleteI have never lived in the desert, but it always calls to me for some reason. It seems so honest and peaceful, I guess.
ReplyDeleteNice photos. Makes me want to visit the area.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even touched on the diversity in southern Arizona as the Chirachuas are gorgeous with rock formations and a rich history. Amerind is over that way and a great small museum as well as Kartchner Caverns. It's an area rich in history, animals and surprising beauties. They call the mountain regions sky islands as they seem that way with desert below.
ReplyDeleteAnd that doesn't begin to cover the other wonders in Arizona as you go north
Rain: Could you provide a link to the vid? My service is not letting me see you tube vids right now for some reason.
ReplyDeleteIt's at Moods of Tucson but these are all on my other blog-- Rainy Day Trailers Too where they don't get buried with so many new entries.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are spectacular! I do love the Southwest.
