Driving south toward Medford

When we drive south on I-5 to Medford, my favorite view is always this one. The highway comes over a ridge and for the first time you see the city and beyond it Mt. McLoughlin, one of the Cascade Mountains string of volcanic mountains. We had come this time for Thanksgiving spent with our children, grandchildren, and a family friend. It was a lovely time with appropriately wintery weather but not so severe to make driving a problem.

  1. I feel that way about Mt. Baker. Thanksgiving was pleasant for me too, but I missed having the baby with us as his parents had bad colds.

  7. I hope your visit didn't bring on a cold like our visits with grandchildren at Thanksgiving often do. I plan to get over it quickly.

  8. Nobody was sick for our Thanksgiving and we didn't have to fly. Flying often leads to colds or something due to the close quarters and air being exchanged. I try to be careful during this time of year to wash my hands a lot and not touch my mouth unless I have.

  9. Hi Rain . . .
I've not looked in for a while. My loss - your gain. I know. I know. Conservatives eat worms for breakfast!

While I was looking around for your link address I discovered "Rain's Images". You may or may not be new to oils, but you've got a real talent. I suspect you will enjoy exploring painting's possibilities. My Dad sure did.

Going back a ways, your blogs are usually reflections of your daily contemplations. The subjects are varied and interesting. I'd like you to know that I've appreciated them - and thank you for reminding me to sit back and slow down once in a while.

The peaceful photographs of rural Oregon and it's beautiful natural vistas set the tone. A sense of "quietude" if there is such a word.

  10. Thank you, Dixon. I actually like having dissenting views here when they are from those who can agree to disagree and not turn nasty. Shortly my blog will be back with subjects that aren't so restful. I hope you'll read and comment when you're of a mind even when it's not in agreement.

I've always wondered what the name of that mountain volcano is. Love seeing it on the drive south through Oregon. Beautiful
