When driving down to Newport, we often take the longer route through Toledo and down along the Yaquina River to the bay. In these photos, the wind was almost non-existent and the water like glass. We weren't the only ones enjoying the sun.
I love that longer drive through Toledo to Newport. I've never seen sea lions along that way, though. I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open! Great photographs.
The sea lions are in old Newport, down along the wharf. They are regulars. We usually finish that drive off with chowder at Mo's, the one that overlooks the bay.
I love seeing the sea lions. There was a pretty massive migration from San Francisco north to the Oregon coast back in December. Two-thousand regulars just "disappeared." I hope there's plenty of food for them. Sure is beautiful there.
My friend and I were recently talking about the ubiquitousness of technology in our daily lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further develops, the possibility of downloading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could see in my lifetime.
