Economics

Because economics is a lot of what I find myself talking about in personal conversations, trying to figure out where we are going, what went wrong, I thought this explained some of my concerns.

If Obama's economic team hasn't learned from past mistakes (and nobody in the economic world hasn't been making mistakes), why do we think they can fix things now? They will carry out his ideas but are they who he is listening to to figure those out? How about some small business people, some who haven't been in banking or acedmia? This will be an ongoing question and the answer has impact for us all.

Quickly read through Frank Rich's article and am impressed that he questions the wisdom of selecting the best and the brightest. He makes some interesting points but he doesn't consider how important the role is of the President to imploy his cabinet and other sources of the digital age. Also the ability of Obama to educate us by speaking from where we understand and raising our consciousness.

I really liked Rich's editorial and was glad to read him questioning the economic team's collective "wisdom." Still, it will be Obama's vision that will underlie their direction. One hopes.

I agree with Robin, vision is very important and inspiring when the leader can make the people own the vision.
