The Real McCain

Check this out most especially if you have thought of John McCain as a straight talker. It reminds me of the old Groucho Marx joke-- who you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes? On YouTube, people can see exactly what someone said but it might not change what they want to believe. With McCain, where he says things and changes them all the time, he is reduced to saying-- so what... which is what his last goof-up led one of his supporters to say.

Politicians running for the presidency all make mistakes as they speak so often. I read one of the right wingers listing off all of Barack Obama's mistakes while campaigning-- like forgetting in what state he was speaking.

The issue for voters should be is it an important difference, a genuine mistake, or a lie. Like when Obama said his uncle helped liberate a concentration camp in WWII and had to admit he had been wrong on which one but not that his uncle had been with a military unit that did liberate one. Was that significant?

Is this?

Well....that's as frightening as it gets. That's exactly what we're trying to free ourselves from. It's important to let people know that the real McCain is not the real McCoy. Thanks Rain.

That is funny stuff. Looks like politics as usual. You could probably find just as many gaffes by Hillary but probably not Barry Obama because he has not been around as long.
Another blog that I read just had an article about how McCain is really a democrat not a republican. It seems he has upset people on both sides of the aisle by trying to straddle it.

Since McCain has said one thing and done another, determining whether he's a democrat or republican has to be figured out based on his votes. He's 100% Bush's man and the people who are behind Bush. He's got a very conservative voting record. He has talked about working with others but in reality, he's right wing and would be a third term of George Bush if he gets in. He won't be more effective either. The press loves him though; so you will figure out what he does based on research not by what they reveal. I am not sure what's up with the media but it looks like they are owned right line and sinker.

Of all the Disney films there is one that may not see the light of day again. I saw it as a child the first time and my kids likewise but you don't see it out there at all anymore because it's politically incorrect. In it are the characters of Bre'r Rabbit and Bre'r Bear. Basically the wily rabbit always outsmarts those who would eat him. One such time was when he got caught and they were going to kill him for punishment and he started talking about the worst thing that could happen to him would to be thrown into the briar patch. Oh please don't throw me into the briar patch. So the, not so smart, predators did exactly that which they soon learned was a trick-- too late.

That's how this is with the Republicans pretending they don't like McCain because they know how many people don't want more of George Bush, but oh McCain, he's different. Not if you look at the way he votes, what he's done to get where he is. He will do what Bush has done and maybe worse. (Reminds me of a scene in another movie, Tombstone, where Curly Bill says even he worried what would happen when Johnny Ringo took over the gang.) McCain seems to get it wrong too many times, talks war way too easily as a solution, and has a temper. Put him into a power position in a country that has seemed acquiescent at making a president into a dictator and you will have what you deserve.

I find it very frightening that anybody is fooled by John McCain, but the leaders doing the fooling aren't. They know. They just count on the people not doing any research and being easily bamboozled by things like flag pins and being able to have a government that they don't pay for (oh you are paying but you just aren't paying it in taxes. It's in inflation and gasoline prices, ruined environment and a lack of real competition. You are paying but you aren't getting anything for it. somebody else is getting a mansion... make that 8 of them. The little people always pay. This whole method has worked before with lies and innuendos. Why not again.

Research. Don't depend on any one source whether it's internet or not. Distrust any email forward. Look for the actual context of everything. When it's McCain giving a press conference and he has to be corrected by the senator alongside him, think about what that means. It's not like getting a state wrong.

This is really amusing. I'm not a McCain fan, but I agree with ingineer66 that there are undoubtedly similar kinds of videos on all the candidates. Being on the campaign trail has to be so damned grueling that I'm surprised all of them don't make more gaffs.

Let's face it, I wonder how many candidates are really informed about the issues they address? With the sophistication of the spin, you have to put a lot of trust in the people who write for you.

I saw the one where Obama talks about how he has campaigned in 57 states and still has more to go. I can do the math and see that he meant to say 47, but to my really right wing friends they are slamming him like he didn't know how many states there are.

Excellent movie references. Supposedly you can buy Song of the South in other countries, just not here where it is not PC.

Well the really right wing would never vote for Obama anyway :) And yes, I would love to find a copy of Song of the South on DVD... My oh my what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine heading my way. Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
